What to Expect
When you arrive at the parachute facility, you'll begin with a briefing. Your tandem instructor will walk you through what to expect when you board the plane, what you'll see before you jump and what to expect during the freefall, then while you're under the parachute canopy and what to expect when you land.
The parachute tandem instructors are all members of the Australian Parachute Federation and have completed 1,000s of jumps themselves, so you'll feel comfortable knowing you're in good hands. After your briefing, you'll be suited up with a jumpsuit and a harness.
Once suited, you'll be taken to the plane and you'll practice your exits. You'll develop some comfort as you begin to understand how the process will work. Finally, you'll board the plane and head into the air.
As you leave the airport, you'll enjoy a scenic tour of the Yarra Valley. Once the plane has reached proper altitude, you'll get prepared to jump. When you jump, you'll freefall for about 60 seconds, during which you'll feel like you're riding a big wave. Once your chute is pulled, you'll glide through the air, as you head toward a safe landing back on Earth.
