Shark Diving - Certified

For certified divers this is the opportunity of a lifetime to get up close and personal with HUGE sharks, giant stingrays, sea turtles, wobbegong sharks and a vast array of marine life.

  • Learn about the origins of sharks, their reproduction and identification followed by a short video.
  • Suit up in the supplied wet suits and gear and get ready for your dive.
  • Spend 30 minutes in the Oceanarium tank, up close and personal with 4 different species of sharks.
  • Return for a debrief, receive a certificate and relax & spend time enjoying any of the guided tours

What to expectWhat to Expect

The Shark Dive experience commences with a tunnel tour where you are introduced to the sharks from a distance. Then move into the shark dive classroom to for a SCUBA, equipment and safety briefing. A certified diver only session will then gear up and get straight in with the sharks. The tank contains an endless number of creatures that are very keen to meet you with 4 different species of sharks including 7 adult and 1 juvenile Grey Nurse Shark, Maia, who was born at Oceanworld in 2001. There are 4 different species of rays including the huge queen mattress-sized smooth stingrays, you will also encounter giant turtles and the marine life of Sydney Harbour including snapper any fisherman would be proud of and enormous mulloway.

This experience lasts approximately 2.5 hours with 30 minutes spent in the tank.

How to dress on the dayDress

All equipment is supplied but bring a swimming costume and towel. Your welcome to bring your own full length wetsuit and mask.

This experience is available all year round with sessions running up to 3 or 4 times a day.

additional information you should know aboutOther Information

You should not fly within 12 hours following the dive or drink alcohol within a 12 hour period prior to your dive. Participants must be able to swim and speak fluent English.

All dives are available for anyone over the age of 14 years. 14 to 16 year olds must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Medical restriction apply as some conditions can exclude you from diving. These include asthma, epilepsy, chronic chest, sinus or ear problems, recent injuries or surgeries.
